Lara Olszowska

Lara is a freelance journalist based in London. She writes features, human interest stories, culture, lifestyle and opinion pieces for national newspapers and magazines.

Her work is featured in The Guardian, The Telegraph, Financial Times, The Independent, The Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, The i paper, The London Standard, Time Out London, Monocle, Tatler, Wonderland, Prospect, Business Insider, Women in Journalism and more.

She won the Freelancing For Journalists Early Career Award 2023 for her report in Prospect magazine on how teachers in Ukraine are keeping schools going during the war.

She was shortlisted for The Telegraph’s Cassandra Jardine Memorial Prize for Women Features Writers in 2022 for a profile of her former Russian language teacher who lives in Kyiv.

She studied Russian & Spanish at university and lived in Saint Petersburg, Russia in 2018 and Kyiv, Ukraine in 2019.
